The Story of how Dos Lupes got its name and werewolf logo
Many years ago, two SCAD students called me. They were making a movie for their film class about vampires in Mexico who took over a town called Dos Lupes. Lupe is a contraction of Guadalupe, a woman's name. In this case, two sisters with the same name. The opening scene of the movie shows a sign saying "Welcome to Dos Lupes" and a dire warning scrawled on the sign, by hand, in Spanish, that "The Devil is in the Town" as well as "Abandon Hope All You Who Enter," the later being borrowed from Dante's Inferno. The sign was then all shot-up to hell at our range by several of us as the cameras rolled. The amature student movie director left the prop where it lay on the rifle range and never invited us rustics to the film's opening. We liked the shot-up sign and put it up at our club's entrance. Over time it disintegrated and was professionally reimagined by now deceased good member Tom VanSteenberg.
